Career Services

About 80 percent of college students in the United States change their major at least once, according to the National Center for Education Statistics. And the Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that the average worker in the United States will hold 10 different jobs before they turn 40.

While job changes and career shifts seem inevitable, many influences are involved in the process of making a wise decision about one’s career. Such factors include an individual’s skills, interests and values, as well as one’s financial well-being and the needs of the fluctuating job market.

As part of the Student Success Center at Southern Adventist University, the role of Career Services is to provide information, thoughtful dialogue and assistance as you consider your career path, whether you’re a student or an alumnus. We offer career counseling, which may include various assessments, as well as assistance with resumes, cover letters and interviewing.

If you believe that the services we provide would be helpful in discovering your ideal career, please call us at 423.236.2069, email or stop by the Career Services department in the Student Success Center on the third floor of Lynn Wood Hall.
